REPRESENTATIVE'S MESSAGE

社長写真First, I would like to express our deep appreciation for your continued support and patronage.
150 years have passed since our company started in the beginning of the Meiji period (1868) in the Osaka Tenma market with the name "Tanesa" when we founded our first seedling shop. At that time, there were many farmers in Osaka city as well and and produced many traditional vegetables that are now well-known. Vegetables like Osaka shirona (a leaf vegetable) Kema cucumbers, Tanabe daikon, Tennoji turnip, Moriguchi radish, and many other vegetables were grown and when farmers who brought them to the Tenma market, they visited Takada Seeds to buy things such as seeds, pesticides, and fertilizers. That is said to be the beginning of our business.
During Japan's welcomed postwar growth, Osaka's vegetable-producing farmland decreased as it was converted to residential and commercial land. For a seed business, if the number of farmers decreases, it means customers decrease. With that in mind, our company shifted its sights from the domestic market to the overseas market, starting with the development of our own onion varieties, we now export various vegetable varieties to more than 40 countries throughout the world.
In addition, as the general agency of the Dutch company Rijk Zwaan, we co-developed a major production center for various vegetable seeds, here in Japan.Taking advantage of our seeds know-how, we started cultivating beans, which are a food as well as a seed, and started selling them on the Exchange in Dojima Osaka. Among them, Tanba black soy beans and Tanba Dainagon azuki beans are now widely used to celebrate the New Year. At present, we handle several hundreds of tons of millet per year. In addition, we sell processed bean products to retailers nationwide, wholesale companies, and other various industries such as side dish manufacturers.
As one of Osaka’s veteran seed companies, we have cultivated our experience and network; since our founding in 1868 in the Meiji period, we have been deeply involved with food and farming for 150 years.
Through all of those times, we have challenged ourselves to continuously suit our customers' needs.
In the future as well, we intend to adjust to the changing times while keeping the same pride and commitment to be an influencer in the world of seeds.
We greatly appreciate your continued support and guidance.
